March of the Ants, Dance of the Bees

Worker ants and worker bees have many similarities.
They set out to supply the needs of their respective Colonies.
Though similar their goals may be, their methods differ wildly.
Marching out across the soil
Ants are out to take the spoil
Carrying off all they can find
Leaving not a crumb behind
Upon the ground they search and scour
Seeking what they might devour
Bees give back while gathering food
Helping fruits to grow
From flower to flower they wend their way
As they reap they sow
When an ant sets out for food
It settles for the very crude
Fresh or rotten they don’t care
Their food can come from anywhere
They take no pleasure what they eat
Food is fuel more than a treat
The bee is far, far more selective
They will never compromise
They soar in seek of nature’s bloom
Sweet nectar is their prize
Once a food source ants have found
They lay a scent trail in the ground
Single file the workers go
Where they’re headed they don’t know
Just step by step they wend their way
Upon the trail their feet must stay
The bee when they find food to share
Their dance guides others' flights
The guidance though not quite exact
Helps them find the site
When obstacles block an ant's trail
Their march is stopped and progress fails
A confusing mess of ants amass
Still the block they cannot pass
Till at last arrives a scout
To show them all another route
Bees, they know no obstacles
They soar high in the air
The sun becomes their guiding star
Each navigate with care
Now each of us, in our life’s work
As we choose our destinies
Let’s not march with the ants,
But dance with the bees!
